Reviews
Writers from around the Raleigh-Durham, Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina who crave Greek food find their way into our dining room from time to time, and a few of them have been kind enough to share the experience with their readers. Below are links to reviews from popular publications in our home town.
| The Independent |
The Independent Weekly, the Triangle's local alternative newspaper, mentioned Xios Authentic Greek Cuisine a few times in the last year. Most recently, Indy Week's "Restaurant Beat" columnist, referring to our special dining events, wrote "... you guys always have the best value for the money." |
| The News and Observer |
The News & Observer, the most read daily newspaper in the Raleigh-Durham and Research Triangle Park region, wrote a review of Xios Authentic Greek Cuisine not long after we opened our doors.
Food Critic Greg Cox stopped in anonymously one evening (there are still conflicting opinions among our staff about which guest he was and what he looks like), tried a variety of dishes from our menu and enjoyed the Mezethes experience.

Old-world Greek cuisine in an upscale, relaxed atmosphere
- Local Beers and Fine Wines
- Belly Dancing
- Catering
The Greek island of Xios (pronounced khi-os), home to our family for generations, is known for its polite and peaceful residents who welcome visitors and guests with kindness and hospitality. We apply these same principles to preparing and serving traditional Greek cuisine, often paired with Greek wines of superior quality, at our family-owned and operated restaurant. We enjoy preparing serving meals in a comfortable setting - old-world dishes with fresh and familiar ingredients that everybody knows. Xios Authentic Greek Cuisine offers a gathering spot for sharing meals with family, friends and co-workers. Some of our guests enjoy spending a romantic evening on our outdoor patio watching the sunset and sharing Mezethes (appetizers), while others prefer to linger over traditional Greek dishes, such as Mousaka or Kotopoula in our dining room. Be sure to come watch our live belly dancing
The owner's family recipes and traditional Greek cuisine from the island of Xios are made daily from scratch. |

AOL's DigitalCity.com, an online dining, music, entertainment and nightlife guide that profiles some of the more talked about restaurants in the Raleigh-Durham metro area, wrote that the Mezethes at Xios Authentic Greek Cuisine offer "a great choice for those who don't come packing a huge appetite." The reviewer also noted that "diners unready for the mini-smorgasbord of the Mezethe can stick with traditional favorites of the Greek table - Souvlaki, Moussaka, and Spanakopita." Escape the suburbs, sail to the Greek islands.
As you work your way through a sampler of surprisingly complex Greek wines, relaxing against a backdrop of Greek folk music and softly romantic décor in shades of dove gray and Aegean blue, it's easy to forget you're in a suburban strip mall. Nor will the kitchen, which specializes in Greek island cuisine, do anything to dispel that happy illusion. Order à la carte---shrimp sautéed with ouzo, spanakopita, feta-stuffed eggplant and locally made Greek sausage are all winners---or order one of the Village Special samplers for two. Either way, it's clear sailing. |
| Metro Magazine |
Raleigh's Metro Magazine, always a treat to read, called Xios Authentic Greek Cuisine "a culinary wonder in Apex" that serves "dinner meant for the gods." Read the full review written by Gourmet Columnist Maudy Benz, who shares her experience of a night dining Greek at Xios. |
